Hi, there. I am a psychological counsellor based in Bellville, Cape Town and operating in surrounding areas. It is a privilege to walk with you on this journey. I provide mental health counselling services face-to-face and online to enrich your personal development and emotional awareness. My goal is to help you enhance your authentic sense of self and mental well-being. Individuals, couples and groups are welcome in the safe space to engage with me without judgement in English and Afrikaans.

What is a Registered Counsellor?

'Registered Counsellor' is one of the nine professional categories in the field of Psychology

The technical definition of a Registered Counsellor is a qualified professional that provides psychological services to diverse community contexts and is focused on primary prevention and intervention of psychological difficulties, as well as the promotion of psychosocial well-being.


The purpose of a Registered Counsellor is to extend mental health care to the diverse South African population by providing more accessible and affordable psychological services. 

Another way of understanding is to see a Registered Counsellor as the GP of the Psychology field, where the general life struggles are attended to. These are struggles that most people have to deal with at some point in life, but which are nevertheless distressing still, e.g. stress and anxiety, grief, relationships etc. And refers to a specialist when specialised care is needed.

Stress, anxiousness and burnout

Stress and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. With the demanding lifestyles and our current social climate, it is normal for our bodies to respond this way. Counselling offers social-emotional awareness to help with emotional regulation.

Trauma counselling

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger after traumatic events. Counselling can help mitigate effects through mindfulness techniques and through discovering healthy coping skills.

Grief counselling

Grief is an emotion that every single person has to endure at some point in their life. However, just because it is a normal human experience does not make it easier to just 'get over' it. Counselling offers psychoeducation into the grieving process and offers general support as you go through the process on your own time.

Relationship Counselling

Relationship struggles can have a deep emotional effect on us, especially when it is with those closest to us. Counselling can help address these difficulties through practising communication skills and social-emotional awareness.

Teen counselling

Adolescence is a stage of life that is supposed to be full of hope, potential, and endless opportunities. But instead, it can be a stage of uncertainty, confusion, and emotional turmoil. Building trusting relationships is a big protective factor for youths.
